<p><strong>Du Guesclin en Avignon</strong></p><table style="border-collapse: collapse; width: 550px; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: justify;">Fin octobre 1365, Bertrand du Guesclin rançonne le Pape Urbain V lors de son passage en Avignon. À la demande du roi de France Charles V qui veut se débarrasser des Grandes compagnies, il entraîne ces dernières en Castille : « <em>En Avignon, je vous ferai donner deux cent milles florins et l’absolution de tous vos péchés !</em> ».
